Goodbye Fear

fear 2

One day, I went to the park to go on my usual run. I was in the groove at my normal and comfortable pace. All of a sudden, tears started to fall. What if I lose my job? How are we going to take care of the kids and their needs? What if my dad’s cancer comes back? How will I survive the weekly radiation treatments while I’m way across the country? All these crazy scenarios were running through my head! I turned to lessons I learned from and I would like to share them with you.

What is fear exactly? It can be defined as a “a feeling of distress caused by the presence or thought of real or imagined danger” (

What happens when fear gets the upper hand in your life? When a sense of fear, apprehension, or panic gets so powerful that it prevents me from functioning normally? Well with all the questions and scenarios swirling through my head, I had to end my run.

I get it. Situations come up that we have no control over. Do you really know that,

  • Fear paralyzes.
  • Fear feeds doubt.
  • Fear kills the plans of God within you.

Fear is none other than a primary weapon used by the enemy to oppress and hinder you as a believer in Christ. Hallelujah, Jesus defeated this enemy (!  The Word of God says that you have been given a spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind, not a spirit of timidity, cowardice, or fear  (2 Timothy 1:7, AMP).

This spirit that is in our hearts is given to us by God. Without a doubt, God’s perfect love conquers and casts fear out of your heart. His love for you annihilates fear in all of its forms (

I John 4:18 states, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But the one who fears has not been made perfect in love.

As believers, we can get low and live in the state of fear, but we all need to receive this today because the Word of God feeds our faith. Psalm 18:29 and 2 Samuel 22:30 teach us that the Spirit of God challenges and carries you. He enables you to leap over walls and break through mountains. Through His strength, you will do mighty exploits and get through EVERY situation (

As I am writing this, I am reminded to take my worries to the Lord in prayer and leave them with Him. Don’t pick them back up, but allow the Lord to deal with the burden. And pray all day long, every day, celebrate God, revel in Him, shape your fears into prayers, then “the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds (Phillipians 4:7).

Our Christian walk is a marathon and it takes a long long process and patience to overcome fear. You can’t do this alone. It will take courage, but in the end, courage will you get the strength to say Goodbye Fear!
