Be Significant, because YOU ARE SIGNIFICANT

Brag alert! It’s time to brag! Our family is a sports family. Our love for sports goes back generations. My father and uncle played football in college. My sister and I played softball in college. Now, my nephew made a commitment to play baseball at a Division I college on a full ride! And it’s predicted he’ll get drafted by a major league team before he even reaches college. Can I get an AMEN? Oh how I hope and pray my kids follow in our footsteps!

As we are thrilled to hear of my nephew’s accomplishments and updates of his “red carpet” moment, I wonder, where is my “red carpet” moment?? I always have these re-evaluating thoughts in my head about what level of significance is in my life right now. This is not a place to make me feel low. I have a lot to be thankful for, but does everyone have the same thoughts as me? Sometimes we get lost in the lives of others. From the messages and photos of a perfect marriage on Facebook, to the perfect fitness bodies on Instagram, there are a lots of praises and likes for others. Where are my likes? Who sees my accomplishments? For obvious reasons, we get caught up in seeing other people’s lives.

As I sit here thinking…is my life significant? Do I feel any significance? What is my purpose? Others get the pat on the back with their accomplishments, but what about me?? As Christians, these questions should not continue to cloud our minds! They do come through from time to time, but they shouldn’t take control of our lives. We have life, and that is through Jesus Christ. Do I believe that, absolutely! As we walk this Christian life, we need to know without a shadow of doubt that the value of our significance in life consists of knowing God and loving God. Man is not central to our significance in life. God is the CENTRAL significance in our life, for in God’s presence there is fullness of joy and at his right hand are pleasures forevermore. – Psalm 16:11.

One of the greatest discoveries of my life, is that God’s purpose is to be glorified and finding satisfaction with what God has placed in your life. God is most glorified in me when I am most satisfied in him. He gets the glory and I know I am significant! Even though some don’t have the most accolades like others or get the pat on the back, we all are significant in God’s eyes. We are commanded to apply ourselves to the process of becoming significant people from an eternal perspective. If you are a brain or heart surgeon, a cashier at Walmart, a future baseball star or even an expert diver who rescued the boys out of the cave in Thailand, you are SIGNIFICANT.

Be significant, because YOU ARE SIGNIFICANT!!
